Sesame and Salt Cabbage Salad

This is a typical cabbage salad we get in Yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) restaurants. It’s simple yet so addictive! A perfect mouth refresher especially between fatty meat. At home, it goes well with pretty much anything. Enjoy!

Ingredients (Servings 2)

  • 3-4 leaves (approximately 120g) of cabbage
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon chicken powder
  • 1 teaspoon grated garlic
  • a pinch of salt
  • a pinch of sesame seeds


  1. Tear the cabbage with your hands and put them in a plastic bag.
  2. Put all the remaining ingredients in the bag and shake it until everything is well mixed.
  3. That’s it! Serve on a plate.


  • Hand tear is the key here. The dressing gets more incorporated when hand torn.
  • If you prefer, you can also mix and toss in a large bowl.
