Ingredients
- A burdock root
- 1 clove garlic
- 150g pork belly slices
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon spoon mirin
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon butter
- black pepper
- sesame seeds
Instructions
- Wash the burdock root and lightly peel off the skin with back of a knife. If you are using a think one, cut it vertically into half, then slice it thinly.
- Finely chop the garlic to mince.
- Heat a pan and cook pork belly with garlic. Add burdock roots and stir fry until everything is cooked. Add sugar and stir fry for a minute, then add soy sauce, mirin and water and heat until reduced. Turn off the heat, add butter and black pepper.
- Serve with sesame seeds on top.
Notes
- Do not over peel the burdock root as it loses its earthy and deep flavor.
- This sweet soy sauce favor goes really well with rice. You can even mix it with rice and make rice balls!
